Guidelines to being a Healthy Dentist
Dentists are responsible for ensuring good health for patients. They however do not end up looking after themselves as required. Below are some ways a dentist can follow to ensure they maintain good health.
Being hydrated is very important for the body. As a dentist one has minimum time to take care of their own health. This is as a result of the heavy engagement experienced by their schedule. It is thus predictable that most dentists end up with a glass of water at the end of the shift. One thing is clear this is not recommendable. Recommednations state one must drink around eight glasses of water each day. Thus it is advisable for dentists to ensure they have a bottle of water or liquids such as soursop and green tea throughout their day so that they can manage to drink some in between intervals and remain hydrated.
From the traditional ages better health comes with better diets especially for dentists who get minimum time to take care of themselves. Most dentists will find themselves grabbing a snack at the hospital canteen, or a food truck and even a drive through meal which in most cases does not include all components of a good diet. The end results of this way of life is poor health for the dentist which makes them prone to falling sick. In order for one to ensure they are taking a good meal it should contain enough fruits vegetables and lean protein to provide them with the required energy. Hence for dentists to ensure they end up with the right meal, shopping for the right grocery and food items is much better than stuffing on snacks and fast food meals.
The importance of exercise has a wide impact on the health and fitness of an individual making it a high necessity for dentist to ensure they take part in. One might assume getting to spend a whole day standing or taking short walks is enough to have done exercises. Denstist will spend their day standing as they attend to patients and move from one patient to the other which is not logically enough exercise. Therefore by one spending some time at the gym or running around the block for not less than 20minutes every day after work they stand a better chance of getting a healthier body.
Lastly, the stress levels experienced during a day at work can be very exhausting. It is logical for the mind to pass information to the body especially when stressed. Thus an exhausted mind leads to an exhausted body. Therefore, dentists are highly advised to ensure they grab a few minutes to relax and get rid of any frustrations they might be feeling as they carry on their day to ensure they do not get fatigue. If you wish to achieve this, engage in activities like short walks around a nearby park, listening to calming music foe some minutes, reading a book or even meditating.
